Who we are
Our UK office is at Micro Business Park, 46-50 Greatorex Street, London E1 5NP. BrainyWebs is run by BRAINYWEBS LLC, registered at 117 S Lexington St, Ste 100, Harrisonville, MO 64701, United States. We decide how the personal data described here is used. For any privacy question, email [email protected].
What we collect
When you send an enquiry form, we receive your name and email address and, if you choose to give them, your phone number, business name, website address, budget, practice areas and message.
We also record the page you sent it from, any campaign tags in the link you followed, the website that referred you, your approximate country, your browser type, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address that we use only to block repeated spam.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details to reply to you and to prepare a quote. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries. We use analytics only to understand how the site is used and which pages help, so we can improve it. You can opt out at any time. We never sell your data or use it for unrelated marketing.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare: hosts the site, stores form submissions in its database and runs the Turnstile spam check
- Google Analytics: counts visits and how pages are used, unless you opt out
- Microsoft Clarity: shows us how pages are used through clicks, scrolls and anonymised session recordings, unless you opt out
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: counts page views without cookies and without identifying you
- tawk.to: live chat, only when you start a chat
- WhatsApp (Meta): when you choose to message us there
- YouTube (Google): plays our client video reviews through its privacy-enhanced player, only when you press play
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, for example Microsoft in the United States. We only use providers that offer safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. If you become a client, we keep what we need for the contract and our legal obligations.
Analytics and cookies
There are no adverts on this site. Our Google Analytics is linked to our Google Ads account, so Google can use visits to this site to show our own ads to past visitors and to measure how our ads perform. We use two analytics tools to understand how the site is used and to improve it. A short notice tells you about them on your first visit.
Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages help. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years.
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: the pages you view, clicks, scrolls, your device and browser type, your approximate location, and anonymised session recordings and heatmaps. Text you type into forms is masked, so we never see it. We use it to understand and improve the site.
On this site Clarity runs in cookieless mode, although Microsoft's script still sets cookies on Microsoft's own domains, such as CLID on clarity.ms and MUID on clarity.ms and bing.com. Microsoft says it also uses MUID for its own purposes, including advertising. We don't use Clarity for advertising.
Microsoft keeps session recordings for 30 days (a small sample for up to 9 months) and heatmaps and other aggregated data for up to 9 months. The data is transferred to Microsoft in the United States, with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
To opt out of both, choose "Opt out" in that notice or in Cookie settings in the footer. We then stop Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity on this browser and remove the cookies they set on this site.
Cloudflare, which hosts the site, also counts page views with its Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not identify you.
If you start a live chat, tawk.to sets the cookies it needs to run the chat. The Turnstile spam check reads technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots, and is not used for advertising. Client video reviews load from YouTube only when you press play, and YouTube may then set its own cookies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
